THE CENTRAL PARK BANDSHELL

In the 1960s and 70s, the Central Park Bandshell became a mecca for New York City's youth.
Like Washington Square, the Bandshell became a haven for young people growing up during the
Viet Nam war, and later during the fiscal crisis in New York in the 1970s.

For a time the City was near collapse. It was a violent and tumultuous time. Yet it was within
this environment that the youth of New York would leave their cultural stamp on America.
